Who hinders you from running?

Galatians 5:7 (NIV), “You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?

Was it worth it?

You were running a good race, i.e.:

  • going to church
  • earnestly desired to be baptised with the Holy Spirit
  • praying often
  • fasting………..and
  • enjoying your Christianity

race

All of a sudden, something popped up and cut you off, it caused to slow down your running and eventually stop.
As young people, that hindering factor may be many things, eg:

  • that young man/woman
  • the unanswered prayer
  • the incomplete goal
  • the sin that so easily besets
  • the conflict with church members
  • (insert you hindering factor here)

Whatever it was that slowed/stopped us from being who we should be in God….was/is it worth it?

Jesus said, “I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he himself will be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father” (John 14:12 AMP).  Why have we stopped/slowed down our pursuit of this promise?

Jesus said, “Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in anyway harm you” (Luke 10:19 AMP).  Why are they biting and poisoning us? Why are we running FROM these things which we have power and authority over?

God said, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people...” (1 Peter 2:9 AMP).  Why then do we allow persons to treat us like we are common, when we are royalty?

  • We were running a good race, that situation that cut in and prevented us from obeying the truth, was it worth it?
  • Are we better off?
  • Can we honestly say that we are happier?
  • Is it all we hoped and prayed for?
  • Was it worth turning aside from the truth of God?

For those of us who feel like we are still running unhindered, let us pray for those who stopped, considering ourselves lest we fall in the same trap.  Let us continue running.  However, at times, we can “pause” and offer some water (encouragement, prayer, bible verse, a listening ear, and Godly advice) to those who stopped along the way.
